Rolex Daydate 40 in Rose Gold / Olive Dial 228325 by GMF factory (V5)

The GMF factory is well-known within the replica community for producing top-notch Rolex replicas. Their Rolex Day-Date 40 in Rose Gold with an Olive Roman Dial (model 228235) has garnered many satisfied reviews from our community. This Day-Date is said to be very similar to the genuine article, and I have decided to review its flaws and share my thoughts on it. Seller details will be provided at the end of this review.

Movement

GMF’s Rolex Daydate 40 features the A2836 movement, a clone of the ETA movement, which is not used in any actual Rolex watches. This movement is reliable and easy to service. Although this difference is not visible to the naked eye, the functionality at the crown may differ, such as the direction required to twist and set the time.

Material update

GMF has recently announced that they are using a new material, tungsten, which is also used in genuine Daydate models. While other replicas may not match the genuine model’s weight exactly, GMF’s Daydate weighs 185 grams compared to the genuine model’s 206 grams. Although still not perfect, it is reasonably close in my opinion.

Measurements

Authentic diameter: 40mm || GMF diameter: 40mm
Authentic thickness: 12mm || GMF thickness: 12.5mm
Authentic waterproof depth: 100m || GMF waterproof depth: 50m

Flaw 1

Point 1: The day and date font sizes and thicknesses differ noticeably, which could be obvious to someone who owns a genuine model.
Point 2: The color of GMF’s olive dial is a few shades off from the genuine one but is still acceptable. Furthermore, it lacks the sunburst effect.
Point 3: The text on the GMF dial is less prominent, and the font size slightly varies.
Point 4: GMF’s hour markers are slightly longer and not as accurately placed as those on the genuine model.

Flaw 2

The positioning of GMF’s rehaut is slightly off center and not prominent when compared to the crown engraving on the genuine model.

Flaw 3

The rose gold finish is similar on both models, but the reflectiveness slightly differs. This is a minor point that generally would not affect the perceived authenticity of the watch.

Flaw 4

he Rolex President bracelet on the GMF watch lacks the two-tone color variation and appears uniformly colored. In contrast, the genuine model features a distinct two-tone rose gold that is clearly visible from all angles and lighting conditions.

Flaw 5

The embossing on the crown is similar on both models, but to nitpick, the circles on GMF’s crown are slightly smaller, and the overall crown shape is marginally smaller.

Conclusion

Despite the flaws mentioned, GMF’s Rolex Day-Date 40 Rose Gold with an Olive Roman Dial 228235 is a remarkable piece that is generally passable at first glance. I am particularly fond of the olive dial paired with the rose gold, a combination that evokes feelings of wealth, prosperity, and vitality—qualities often associated with the color of US currency. This watch is on my purchase list, and I will review it in-depth once I acquire it. As always, peace out and stay vibey!
