Rolex GMT-Master 2 Root Beer SS/RG 126711 CHNR by GMF factory
GMF Factory is a respectable manufacturer that offers watches at a reasonable price, though not all their watches are top-tier. In this review, I will examine the Rolex GMT-Master II Root Beer SS/RG 126711 CHNR from GMF, highlighting its flaws and sharing my thoughts. I will provide the seller’s contact information at the end of this review.
Movement
The VR3285 movement, interchangeably referred to as SH3285, bears similarities to the VR3186 model, although it’s noteworthy that some units labeled as VR3186 are actually engraved as VR3285. This movement is celebrated for its reliability and incorporates a sophisticated hour hand jumping mechanism. While the VR3285 is designed to be a precise replica of its genuine counterpart, it’s important to note that the hour hand jumping feature, despite its high accuracy, does not completely mimic the original. An added advantage of the VR3285 movement is its compatibility with genuine parts, allowing certain components to be interchangeable, which enhances maintenance flexibility and potential upgrades.
Flaw 1
The triangle engraving on the bezel differs between the two watches. The engraving on the GMF model is smaller than on the authentic watch, and the rose gold color varies by a few shades. While the engraving is subtle, the difference in the rose gold color is quite noticeable.
Flaw 2
The crown and the text on the dial are slightly different in size. The text and crown on the GMF are thinner compared to the authentic model.
Flaw 3
The numbers engraved on the bezel also differ. For example, the number 4 on the GMF is elongated compared to the authentic.
Flaw 4
Point 1: The rose gold color appears darker on the GMF when zoomed out, but slightly lighter on the authentic. This might be due to lighting, though I cannot confirm as the exposure varies in the photos.
Point 2: The red color on the bezels also differs; GMF’s red is a few shades darker than the authentic.
Flaw 5
Upon closer inspection at the bottom of the dial and comparing the “SWISS MADE” text alongside the crown, the crown on the GMF is thicker, but their “SWISS MADE” text is similar. Well done, GMF.
Flaw 6
The rehaut (inner bezel) differs between the two watches; the font depth on the GMF is shallower, and the positioning is off, as shown in the images above.
Flaw 7
The crown embossing is similar on both watches, but it’s worth noting that GMF’s embossing seems slightly smaller and thus the positioning is slightly off.
Flaw 8
The Rolex logo engraving on the clasps differs in size; GMF’s engraving is smaller than the authentic, but this isn’t a significant flaw as it’s not easily noticeable to the naked eye.
Conclusion
Overall, GMF’s Rolex GMT-Master II Root Beer SS/RG 126711 CHNR is a solid watch despite the flaws mentioned. However, I am particularly concerned about the rose gold color and the rehaut. I hope GMF can address these issues in their upcoming batches. I am a big fan of all Rolex GMT-Master II models, and this colorway is one of my favorites. The color combination may seem odd at first glance, but it grows on you after a few days. The watch has a playful vibe and pairs well with casual outfits. As always, peace out and stay vibey.
